Why it changes
The Tuscarawas rises fast after rain
Coshocton sits where the Walhonding and Tuscarawas Rivers meet to form the Muskingum. Three watersheds drain through one town, so a storm upstream in Holmes or Tuscarawas County can lift the water here a day later, even if it stayed dry over Roscoe Village.
Most of the season the Eagle Trip is flat, slow water. When the level comes up, the current speeds up with it — the same 4.5 miles takes half the time and leaves much less room to correct a mistake. That is when we start limiting trips.
Tubes come off the water first
A tuber has no paddle and no way to steer. On a fast day canoes and kayaks may still run while tubing is held back, so the status here is not always the same answer for all three boats. Call if you are unsure which applies to your group.

- Check this page the morning of your trip We set the status before the first shuttle at 9AM, and update it during the day if the river changes.
- Call for anything same-day 740-722-9448, Thursday through Sunday, 9AM to 3PM. A phone call beats guessing from a rain forecast.
- Rain the day before matters more than rain today Water from upstream takes time to reach Coshocton, so a clear morning can still follow a high river.
- Groups should call ahead If you are bringing more than about a dozen people, call so we can tell you what the water is doing and stage boats for you.
- Closed days If the river is closed we do not run trips. The Tiki Bar and patio are still open during livery hours.
Walk-ins are welcome on any Good or Caution day — no reservation needed.
